Housing Flyer Distribution Policy and Guidelines

Digital Flyers

  • The fastest, most sustainable, method for distributing flyers to the residential population is to email them to resstaff@gmu.edu. HRL staff will share the flyers via the Housing Student Staff and HRL Mason360 pages as well as through the residential student newsletter.
  • All residential students are in a Mason360 group with their resident assistant(s). We encourage all campus partners to ensure their events are in Mason360.

General Print Material Guidelines

Materials that meet the following criteria may be posted in the residence halls:

  • The sign does not exceed 11 inches by 17 inches.
  • The sign must be related to a campus/student organization or a University-sponsored event.
  • The sign must not include events that involve alcoholic beverages or occur at off-campus bars.
  • The sign is not a solicitation for non-University-affiliated businesses.
  • The sign may not include content so severe, pervasive, and/or objectionably offensive that it effectively creates a hostile environment.
  • Signs that adhere to the University branding guide (brand.gmu.edu) are preferred.

Pre-Sorted Posters

  • We prefer you presort your posters by the building areas listed in the chart below.
  • If you are unable to presort your poster, this will delay the posting up to five (5) business days.
  • The numbers above include one flyer for the Community Director (CD) of each community.

  • Note: ACGC will be offline for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Learning Communities

  • Each learning community has a designated resident assistant. By providing print materials for distribution in the residence halls using the chart above, you will be automatically promoting to learning community students.
  • If you desire to partner with a learning community for a program or initiative, please refer to Housing & Residence Life’s Pathway to Partnership form distributed via the University Life listserv and the HRL website beginning in the Summer of 2021.
